I have received multiple requests from my peers and colleagues seeking my opinion/view/understanding of “Creating Custom HCM Extract in Fusion Applications”. Apologies for the delay, but better late than never. Here comes your request presented in a lucid, simple, free flowing format with ample screenshots:

Perquisites:

In order to start with Creating a Custom HCM Extract you would need to have following perquisites:

  1. Access to a Fusion Application Instance (Commonly Referred to as POD) with valid login credentials.

  2. User Roles like Application Implementation Consultant (Used for Extensions i.e. extending the capabilities of the application using tools provided by Oracle to meet specific Business Needs) and Payroll Administrator (Used to Submit the HCM Extracts once the same is created).

Step 1: Login to Fusion Applications

Use the Fusion Applications Link of the POD / Instance and enter your user credentials as shown:

Step 2: Create a Report

Once you perform the above step, you will reach to the homepage where from you need to click on the ‘Navigator’ (Icon) and a popup window will open.Click on ‘Reports and Analytics’

This will take you to the “Reports and Analytics” Page where you would an “Open Book” Icon (Tooltip says Browse Catalog).

Now we have to navigate to find globalReportsDataModel

Location: Shared Folders/Human Capital Management/Payroll/Data Models

Click on the edit Link and point the mouse/cursor to the “Create Report” Icon

This takes you to the below screen

Click on ‘Next’ and save

Now the Report is created. We would use this when required.

Step 3: Search for a Person Record (Specific Data Sample Record to be used in Extract)

Navigation: Home Page -> Navigator->My Workforce->Person Management

This takes you to a new window where you can search for individual records. For this example we will use Person# 137

Step 4: Creating a Custom HCM Extract

Navigate to “Manage Extract Definitions”

Path: Homepage->Navigator->My Workforce->Data Exchange

When you take your cursor there and Click on create .

Use below details and populate the screen:

Prompt

Name

BasicDetails

Start Date

1/1/00 (Auto-Populated Field with Default Value as 1/1/00 unless explicitly changed)

Type

Full Profile

This Takes to the ‘Define’ Section.

(HCM Extracts has 4 broadly classified sections namely Define, Design, Deliver and Validate)

All values are pre-populated and we would leave them as is for this example.

Next we move to the ‘Design’ Section. Double click on Employees Folder

Click on the filter criteria and create new filter condition (We want to show data related to Person Number 137)

Condition : Extract Employee Person Number = 137

Next Add Attributes to the Data Record.

Attribute Names

Person Date of Birth

Person E-Mail Address

Person First Name

Person Gender

Person Last Name

Person Last Name Prefix

Person Middle Name

Next Move to the “Delivery” Tab and populate the following details:

Extract Delivery Options

End Date

Delivery Option Name

BasicExtractDeliveryOption

Output Type

Report

/Practice Samples/BasicExtract.xdo

Template Name

Output Name

BasicExtractOutput

Delivery Type

Bursting Node

Overriding Delivery Mode

After populating the above details the screen would look as:

Next click on the validate Tab to check whether the extract definition is fine.

And YES!!!.

It is fine.

We are now ready to run our extract.

Step 5: Running the Extrac

Navigate to Checklists Link under Payroll Menu

Click on Checklists. Then “Submit a Process or Report”

Click Next. Enter Parameters

Click Next. Enter Flow Interaction (Use Defaulted Value. Click Next)

Click Next. Schedule (Use Defaulted Values. Click Next)

Click Next. Review and Submit.

Submit Extracts

Click on “Go to Task”. Then click on Spectacles (Icon) referred as View Results in Appln

This takes us to the results section

Click on “File Name or URL” to see output displayed

Appendix:

Extract XSD (Schema Definition of Extract)

And this brings me to the end of the article.

Hope you all enjoyed reading this and I was able to answer few of your queries for further questions keep writing to me and I would try my best to help with the best of my abilities.

Thank You for your time and have a Great Day Ahead!!!!!!!!!
