I have a doubt ..when we are defining the parameters during the formfunction definition ..we are also embedding the parameter values..so can we change the value of these parameters at the report run time? and how do we do that.

very useful document. I have a disco report that is initiated by a button on SSHR. Do you know the correct method to open the report viewer in a new window. At the moment it opens in the existing self-service window and the navigation is lost.

Yes, we can pass parameter dynamically.
One way is you can accept the parameters through forms and then pass them in
syntax
workbook=¶ meters=~*~*~*
The other way is you can ask the parameters from Just before your discoverer sql is to be.
I'll soon release a doc in this regard.
I saw your documents , Really this is wonderful . And this is very useful enhancement of the knowledge,of invoke the Discoverer report in apps environment . And way of presenting is very cake work . Thanks for sharing information .
If its Form Button then Yes, (else I'm not sure)....
you can achieve this by
1. Create a Folder(Admin) and Workbook(Deskto p) as mentioned in doc.
2. Create a Function which is registered to the Workbook as explained in the doc.
3. Attach the Function with Menu (for desired Responsibility) leave Prompt as Blank.
4. In form create a WHEN-BUTTON-PRE SSED trigger on Button
call the function using FND_FUNCTION.EX ECUTE
FND_FUNCT ION.EXECUTE(FUN CTION_NAME => 'Function_name created in step 2',
OPEN_FLAG => 'Y',
SESSION_FL AG =>'Y' );

You can try to change Discoverer invokation function type to "SSWA plsql function that opens a new window (Kiosk Mode)" - WWK.
After that Discoverer Viewer will open in separate window.

This doc is really good as you ahve explained ina very simple way with all the diagrams.Actual ly I am new to discoverer .previously i was developing reports thru oracle reports.. so can you mail me some basic and fundamental document for discoverer .so i can practice with that .....

Its really a good stuff, After registration when i click on the function name to
invoke the report it transfers to the login page directly. i need this issue should be solved. we have created a report with .dis . where it has to be saved . database or computer.

When the discoverer report is launched from Oracle Apps. It returns an error saying there is no enough data to be displayed. I hit refresh button under this message then it shows me my Discoverer report and worksheet in it and then I click on worksheet ; it opens and displays the results properly. Is there a way to troubleshoot the misinformed error message.
Below is the error message which I get:
OracleBI Discoverer Viewer was unable to find the necessary data for displaying the results of this event. Please correct any errors and try again.

If you've created a custom folder the pls check the schema name is attached to it.

One doubt how to create pl sql functions in discoverer and triggers in discoverer.
one more question how to set multi org becaz when you access the multi org table to make worksheet it wont display reult how to acheive it
I tried all the steps as per the pdf file you have attached and it gave me error as below when i invoked the report using this new function.
Authentication Failed.
(Defaul t or specified schema containing EUL tables is inaccessible )
Please advise what could be the reason ?

Please check schema name is attached with tablename in the Sql query for Custom Folder .

when i am going to save a report a error occure..that is rep-1070:while opening or saving a document.how can i recover it???is there any solution to you.....please help me...

Plea se check the Name of Workbook should contain Name of the Identifier
you can get the same by Log into Desktop edition
Open the Workbook
File --> Manage Workbook --> Properties
Cop y the name of the Identifier name paste it to
form function -->Form Tab--> Paramter

Please Open ur worksheet in Desktop edition and
go to File --> Manage Workbook --> Sharing
Share the Workbook for ur required Responsibility and User.
I've missed out this step in my PDF..
Anyway, pls try and revert..

i was suffully completed, invoke discoverer report through oracle application. this was happened in vision or local instance.
but while i am doing this same in devloper or client instance i am geting the same error " Authentication Failed
(Default or specified schema containing EUL tables is inaccessible )" ..
i going with same properties at vision and devlopement instance, even though i am getting same error.
please kindly revert back

I folllowed the same steps as mentioned in the document, but when I am trying to click on the link to invoke the discoverer report, it is opening up the page listing all the responsibilitie s and is not opening up the discoverer viewer. I followed the steps with existing discoverer report we have. It is launching workbook in Discoverer Plus and not in viewer. Do you reckon there is setup that determines this ?
