In this article, we will look at the steps to create formula mass allocation rule, mass allocation rule set and generate allocation journals using this ruleset.

Let's create a mass allocation rule based on a formula where the target account will be allocated 5% of the period to date activity of the source account. First define the POV dimension values (previously defined RTP for accounting period will also be mentioned here) and then define formula component for this rule as shown below.

Save, Validate and deploy this rule.

The next step is to create a ruleset in the system view by selecting the appropriate essbase cube.Enter the ruleset name. Now drag and drop the previously created rules under this ruleset name in the rules designer.

And in this example, both the rules are based on the previously created run time prompt for the accounting period. If this RTP variable takes the same input values for both the rules, then they can be merged (Merge variables checkbox) as a single RTP variable for this ruleset as shown below:

Now save,validate and deploy the ruleset.And navigate back to Journals workarea and submit generate general Ledger allocations for this ruleset.
