Creating an Implementation Project

Implementation Projects:

An implementation project is the list of setup tasks you need to complete to implement selected offerings and functional areas. You create a project by selecting the offerings and functional areas you want to implement together. You manage the project as a unit throughout the implementation lifecycle. You can assign these tasks to users and track their completion using the included project management tools.

Create a new implementation project that includes the Sales offering.

DETAILED STEPS:

a. Log into the Desktop UI using your assigned user id.

b. Navigate to Setup and Maintenance

c. In the regional area, under Implementations, click Manage Implementation Projects
d.
In the Search Results section, click the Create icon.

 e. Enter a name for the project f

. Click Next.

g. You will see a list of offerings that have been provisioned for this practice lab environment. You should only include the Sales offering for this implementation project.

h. Expand the Sales folder.

i. Select the Include check box for

1) Sales

2) Basic Catalogs

3) Sales Business Intelligence Analytics

4) Sales Forecasting Management Business Intelligence Analytics (under Sales Business Intelligence Analytics)

5) Lead Business Intelligence Analytics (under Sales Business Intelligence Analytics)

j. Click the Save and Open Project button.

Note: The determination of which packages to choose is based upon what functionality the implementation requires. In this implementation, we are stating that the customer is implementing Sales and will need catalogs as well as forecasting and Lead analytics.

TASK: Review the tasks associated with this project.

DETAILED STEPS:

a) Notice that you are now in the implementation project that you created.

b) Expand the Sales folder. The required and optional tasks for implementing the Sales offering and options that you selected are shown.

Note: Required implementation tasks are marked with an asterisk.

c) Expand the Define Common Applications Configuration for Sales folder.

Note: This folder contains tasks that are common to more than one offering. If you are implementing two or more offerings, for example Sales and Marketing, you might see these tasks repeated in folders for each. However, they generally only need to be performed once.

d) Expand the Define Synchronization of Users and Roles from LDAP folder.

e) Select *Run User and Roles Synchronization Process.

f) Click the Status icon.

Note: Even though this status shows as Not Started, this task has already been performed and does not need to be repeated. You can mark already-performed tasks as complete in your implementation project to help you keep track of tasks that you still have to perform.

g) Set Status = Completed.

h) Click Save and Close.

i) Notice that there is now a green checkmark in the Status column for that task.

j) Expand the other top level folders to see the types of tasks they contain. Not all of these tasks are required. Many areas of the application have default settings that you do not necessarily have to change.

TASK: After examining the implementation project task folders, you realize that you did not add territory management tasks to your implementation project. You would like to add these tasks so you build a complete implementation project that you will use to export setup data at a later time. Add the Define Territory Management Configuration task list to your implementation project.

DETAILED STEPS:

a) In your implementation project, collapse the Sales folder and then press the Esc key on your keyboard to deselect the row.

b) Click the Select and Add icon in the Tasks and Task Lists section

c) Search for the Define Territory Management Configuration task list

d) Select the task in the results list and click

e) Click Done

f) Expand the Define Territory Management Configuration folder and notice that you now have a task list for configuring territory management.
