Objective:

In the first part of the training article we learnt about workspace and how to create financial reporting package or book which would include all the reports we want to select for a particular task. In this article we will see how to create batch which can be scheduled to run at a specific time or date. In the subsequent article we will discuss the steps for scheduling a batch.

Creating Batch:

In order to create a snapshot report, you need to create a batch and schedule the batch to run at a specific date/time in the future. To create a batch, go back to the Oracle BI Catalog tab and go to the File menu at the top of the page

Select File>New>Batch

In the window that opens, click on the Insert Document icon (Document with right arrow symbol). This opens the window for you to select the reports to include in the batch for scheduling.

Select the reports that we want to include and click on the Move arrow to move them to the right side, selected items. When we are done selecting reports, click on OK.

Click on the Save icon in the toolbar at the top.  After accepting the defaults this will prompt us to provide a name for the batch and select the folder where you want to store the batch. The best practice is to include our initials in the name so we can distinguish it from other users’ batches. Click OK when we are done.
