Budget Scenario:
A budget scenario is a set of scheduled budgets that can be assigned to an account. These budgets create projected cash forecast. A scenario helps an organization to predict the financial impact of a decision, allowing them to make adjustments ahead of time. For example if you decide to commit to a plan, the budgets in the scenario help you keep track of your spending. Few examples of scenarios are
- Original Budget
- Revised Budget
- Extended Budget
As a best practice one should have atleast two scenarios in order maintain a track record on original budget and final revised/extended budget.
Creating Budget Scenario in Oracle Fusion Applications:
Navigation- Setup & Maintenance> Manage Implementation project> implementation Project> Define Budget Configuration> Define Budget Scenario
- Click on Define Budget Scenario
- Click on Manage Values
- Click on Create icon
- Enter the value and definition and Click on Save and Close as shown above. It is a simple process of value creation.
We have created the above budget scenario in transactional database. Budgets are not stored in the GL tables. It is directly stored in Essbase. So we are required to publish the budget scenario in Essbase. For that we need to run a report called Create Scenario Dimension Members.
Navigation- Tools> Scheduled Processes > Schedule New Process
Click on Schedule New Process
Select Create Scenario Dimension Members and click on OK
